snapblocs vs. Other Data Integration Platforms

snapblocs elevates existing data integration solutions while enabling rapid deployment of newer data flow architectures and platforms:
  1. Supports existing data integrations solutions
  2. Offers migration to new data flow architectures
  3. snapblocs Architecture Blueprint offers ready-to-go solutions
Moving and integrating data
Data integration technologies allow data from different sources to communicate with each other. For example, Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) is a type of data integration where data is read from the source, transformed using predefined logic, and then loaded into the target in some other form.

Solutions like Talend, StreamSets Data Collector, and Apache Nifi provide connectors to easily and consistently implement data transformations across various data sources. Connectors for filtering, sorting, joining, merging, aggregating and other operations are available and ready to use in these ETL tools.

New data flow architectures
These tools provide rich and powerful functionality, but can only be used in limited use cases. They are mainly designed to automate the flow and transformation of data between software systems. In other words, they can't be extended for other use cases.

Some examples of new use cases and architectural patterns are:
  • Data-as-a-Service for simplifying access, accelerating analytical processing, securing and masking data, curating datasets, and providing a unified catalog of data across all data sources.
  • Data Lake architectural pattern for providing a centralized data repository to store all structured and unstructured data at any scale.
In fact, both of these new architectures are very complimentary and offer transformational business opportunities.

snapblocs platform blueprints
The catalog of platform blueprints, provided by snapblocs, supports a wide range of use cases. Select an Architecture Blueprint from the catalog of platform blueprints and customize it by changing the defaults to the desired settings for the deployment environment, including cluster scale sizing, networking, security, high availability, etc. Add more components, from the predefined set of components provided by the platform blueprints, to extend the data platform according to specific use cases.

Summary
snapblocs is not tied to any proprietary data integration services/products. It integrates with widely adopted open-source software and platform blueprints on multiple cloud providers' Kubernetes platforms. Also, it will allow integration with externally installed commercial software in the future (i.e. Snowflake, Talent, etc.).
snapblocs is one of the most versatile products for designing and building data platforms in order to support fast-changing business goals by expanding the list of open source and commercial software components as well as the list of platform blueprints.
